Why do people celebrate earth day
Why do people celebrate earth day? We have one earth and we like to be grounded. Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 in the US to increase Americans’ awareness that, hey, all these free radicals, pollutants, and big gas guzzlers are killing our ozone layer and we need to do something about it.
So let’s go out and help your local parks and recreation plant some trees. This year and every year it will be April 22nd.
What can we do to celebrate Earth Day
- Learn about what native plants to plant in your garden.
- Planting native plants and flowers will help get some pollinators and feed the birds and the bees. Free food for them.
- Help plant a tree in your neighborhood.
- Learn micro-climate change.
- Go clean a beach.
- Do a ride share.
- Shop at a local farmers market.
- Start a compost heap in your garden from your kitchen scraps.
- Switch from paper billing or statements to paperless. Save a tree.
Let’s Go Save The World
You guys saving the world is a lot of work but we have to do one trash at a time. One tree at a time. And One flower at a time. If just one person picked up a piece of trash, planted a tree, throw some wildflowers down, and fruit seeds on a mountaintop somewhere. (That doesn’t mean for you to go litter!)
Our future generation will have free food for life. When we are no longer here our children will continue this tradition to save the world as they know it.
Fun Facts
April 22nd was chosen because all the kids from K-12 are out of school for spring break so they all can participate in celebrating Earth Day.
Earth Day was established in 1970 by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson.
It also led to the passage of the Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts.
1990 was the day it went global for everyone to protect the environment. Save our world. The lead to the Earth birthday celebration, Earth Day!
The End Result
We celebrate earth day because this is home. Let’s advocate more about the things we love about our world and do as much as we can to help it thrive for a long long time. Start a vegetable garden.
